Bigger can be better. The Northwind 18 has the same stability as the flagship Northwind 17. However, it has more capacity for gear and passengers. Compared to other canoes the Northwind 18 will help get you to camp without being as unstable. You do not need to work as hard deciding what gear to bring with for the trip, there is room for all your favorites. 

The BlackLite layup gives the canoe significantly better durability compared to the lighter starlight. The trade off is an extra 3lbs. Exterior resin coated for maximum weight savings. It also has a sleek black carbon weave that is visible through the resin.
